You are never to young or old to take a FREE self defense class in Boston. You will learn something useful that will be of great help in a bad situation.

Mass Bay BJJ defense classes provide much more than physical training. While learning self-defense techniques is crucial, it’s also important that you acquire the verbal skills and the mentality that will help your avoid physical confrontations in the first place.

Learn how to train the way you will respond when put into a variety of harmful scenarios. Take control of the Fight or Flight response and secure your personal safety. React Instantly and Decisively! It is one thing to train and remember a technique in a class room setting, but to have to perform under pressure of bodily harm means you will need to respond swiftly.

ONE STYLE OF MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING IS NOT THE ANSWER

When training for self-defense, the individual will be forced to adapt to a variety of conditions. At any time the fight can go to the ground, pinned up against a wall, or worse a weapon is involved.

Our system takes the best and most reliable moves from: Krav Maga, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Military combat training and put them into realistic scenarios  to make the training as real-life as possible.

Self-defense is much more than physical training. It also includes safety strategies for verbal confrontations as well as persuasive techniques – it’s always better to prevent a conflict before it escalates. Our Instructors will train you to be aware and assertive, as well as physically ready for a confrontation.

 SELF DEFENSE CLASS STRUCTURE

Not all self defense systems are the same. Our martial arts school offers a unique course that covers the basics and adds on to the core set of self-defense moves over a period of time to prepare you mentally as well as physically. What matters the most about the self defense classes is each student develops his or her own strategies against aggressors; and once your instructor teaches you the fundamentals, you’ll be able to react.

Mass Bay BJJ’s classes always start with some form of a warm up to prevent injury and get the body ready to perform the various movements required for the class. Technique drilling will provide the muscle memory needed to perform under stress and not have to think through the move. This on its own is a great workout from the continuous movements of the body as a whole to react to different situations. Our Instructors will have the students train moves standing and/or on the ground.

The classes will provide some form of sparring or live training during a class. Self defense moves cannot be performed at a full contact level without protection and will have to be simulated with very lite contact and/or the use of striking pads, gloves, and shin guards. The class  ends with a cool down period with some form of stretching to loosen the muscles and get rid of the lactic acid buildup from the hour long class.
